Dusting off the cobwebs…again

Hello all! For those devotees who are still following, thanks for staying the course. For those who are new, welcome, or welcome back! This past year was a whirlwind of research, which left both this blog and Jazz Historian After Hours languishing. It was wonderful being able to devote myself to research full time for a year, but it was one of those situations where I felt I needed to be doing it nearly 24/7 to make the most of the Lilburn Fellowship, so it meant that my writing activities went by the wayside. 2018 is going to be a different beast, however. This year is all about writing! Asides from attending more regularly to these blogs of mine I’m starting to work on articles and a book from the Lilburn research. I’ll also hopefully be doing more over at Audioculture so keep an eye out there too.

One particular project I plan to do on NZ Jazz this year is to celebrate the 125th anniversary of NZ women’s suffrage by writing a monthly post on NZ women jazz musicians/composers. I may also do something similar for NZ women musicians and composers of other genres over on JHAH, but I’ve yet to decide on that one yet- I’ll cross post to let you all know.

That’s all for now, but keep an eye out in the next couple of weeks for the first of what I hope to be many blog posts this year.

  1. Happy New Year! So pleased to hear the Fellowship was enjoyable and productive. I look forward to reading more of your writing this year xx
